Heyy :)
Yesterday night was talking to people about interview questions and stuff and when it came to "what is the biggest setback in your life so far?" we realised that all of us have been blessed so abundantly that all the answers we could come up with were well... stupid, shallow.
Then we started talking about how if you ask Singaporeans what's the biggest setback in their lives you'll get alot of I screwed up my exams, big test, didn't get the scholarship i wanted etc. This will never compare to children who had to experience war through their growing years, parents going through divorce, the death of parents, getting striken with with terminal illness and unable to enjoy childhood, children living in poverty getting sold as slaves..
What we consider 'setbacks' and spend hours on end brooding over and feeling sorry for ourselves, there are so many people out there who go through really major setbacks, life changing events that make what we consider as 'setbacks' totally minuscule.
After discussing for a long time we still couldn't think or something worthy of being termed a 'setback'. That just shows what a good life we have so far. We've all been given many opportunities, so much to be thankful for, yet, we always think that the grass is greener on the other side and have to end to the number of complaints.. Sad isn't it? How we seldom count our blessings and how often find things to complain about. There's a difference between wants and needs.
So, as i lay in bed still trying to think about a setback in my life, i realised that everything was really quite trivial. Life has been good, and although there were times that i stumbled and fell, those weren't exactly major setbacks, but lessons learnt along the way, opportunites to really just leave everything to God and see how everything works for good. He is been good, pouring blessing upon blessing this year and throughout my life. There's results which i am ashamed to say i was sad when i first saw them but was actually something i should be really thankful for, the fufilling of a dream i've had since i was five years old by getting into medical school, how he's revealed his plan for my life to me and much moree :)
"Don't question his intentions, just accept with thanksgiving. Walk by faith" That's what someone told me this week while i was telling her about my apprehensions about stuff like why london? and something else. That's what i'm going to do :)
I'm happy :)
